Qur'an Burning..?

I'd not usually blog about anything religious, but this caught my eye and I am so amazed and shocked that I thought it deserves attention here. A Florida church group is holding a burning... a book burning. But no ordinary book, but the Qur'an.

It's all over the web, but here's the first link I found:

Dear Tahir,

Bigotry is everywhere, closer home than you'd think:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8563111.stm

As a Westerner -and a Spaniard at that- I think that religious bigotry is much more rampant in the Muslim world than probably anywhere else. But it exists also among Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists or ''Christians'', to the utter embarrasment of many of us.

Which is a sad affair, same as it is a sad affair that these ''good Christians'' (!!!!) dedicate their efforts to burning the Q'ran.

But then, this is the price we all pay for living in Planet Purgatory, isn't it?

With all best wishes,

Julio

As Amreicans, my wife and I are utterly appalled and ashamed by this news item.

Hi Tahir,
I don't know if if ever check these, but I am a fan from Sydney Australia, and was horrifed by this story.
I have just emailed your link to the page to The White House, and to Opray Winfrey.
They are the 2 biggest house hold names that I think have it within themselves to help educate and explain to people, especially these red neck yokel hicks .
fingers crossed something positive comes out of this awful situation.

Utterly horrified but hardly surprised.
How nasty people can be
NY full of anti mosque-near-ground=zero sentiments.
I bet the chickens don't build it.
Sad.

Takes one's breath away for a second, doesn't it. Amazing. Thank you for doing this blog, by the way.

The activist who started off this campaign, Pastor Terry Jones, was arrested for immoral and indecent behavior.

Here is the link on NBC.
